All of us have experienced an event, or even a series of situations, where we get triggered and act out or overreact with inappropriate behavior. These reactions/behaviors are called Trauma Symptoms and are understood to be the result of a current life experience “triggering” an older stored emotional charge. The good news is that our body is capable of resolving or releasing these stored emotional charges so that the “fuel” behind a symptom is no longer preset. God has creates us perfectly and has provided a way to access and threat these subconsciously stored emotional charges through a Christian Therapy protocol called Splankna.
Subconscious Catalog: God has created our minds to function at fantastic speeds of efficiency. It is estimated that our conscious mind processes images and information at an average rate of 50 bits/second, while our subconscious mind over 11 million bits/second. It is at the subconscious level that most of our life experience is stored in a vast filing system, under the surface of our conscious awareness and recall. The primary role of our subconscious is to protect and preserve our lives from damage or danger, therefore it stores vast amounts of data of past traumatic events where we’ve been hurt or endangered.
One analogy of our subconscious is that of a doctor’s office filing system – walls of file folders with encoded tabs assisting our brain to pull out relevant information as we encounter everyday situations. The more traumatic the past encounter, the more prominent and energetically charged the tab in the search priority system. If a present situation closely resembles a past, highly charged trauma, our brain can be triggered to switch off our conscious response and enact a “fight or flight” reaction. Most of the time, these trigger mechanisms serve us well, fueling us to put up our defenses or create distance that keeps us safe and sound.
Trigger Mechanisms: But all of us have experienced trigger events, or even a series of like situations, where we acting out or overreact with inappropriate behavior. These reactions exhibit themselves as hurts, hang ups and bad habits that hijack our lives and freedom of choice. We call these Trauma Symptoms and are understood them to be the result of a current life experience “triggering” an older stored emotional that is charged more highly than will serve us well. The good news is that our body is capable of resolving or releasing these stored emotional charges so that the “fuel” behind a symptom is no longer present. At times, we are consciously able to make the necessary changes, but more often than not, emotional energy changes need to first be accessed through the subconscious. God has creates us perfectly and has provided a way to access and threat these subconsciously stored emotional charges through a Christian energy psychology called Splankna Therapy.
“Energy Psychology” refers to this field of treatment protocols that seek to alleviate unhealthy or unhelpful triggers and psychological symptoms via biomeridian manipulation. The biomeridian system is a collection of paths in the body along which neurological energy flows. It is part of how the body stores memories and the strong emotions that come with trauma in various organs for the purpose of protecting and keeping us safe in the future. Through accessing this storage system while in tune with both current triggers and associated past trauma, the body can be facilitated to release stored emotional charges that are fueling psychological symptoms.
God-Given Treatments: Muscle-testing (adapted from applied kinesiology) can be used to access this subconsciously stored emotional content. Any major muscle in the body (deltoid in our case) that is fairly well isolated, will respond to electrical/energetic shifts that go off in the body. A train Splankna practitioner can ascertain the root emotion that is fueling a particular symptom through muscle testing. In addition, the practitioner can find when the emotion first occurred and where the emotion is stored in the body’s neurological system. These emotions are then resolved on the energetic level and the fuel behind the trauma symptom is neutralized.
Healing Protocol: Spiritual warfare can play a significant role in a client’s symptoms. When traumas occur in our lives, our enemy can capitalize on our vulnerability by offering significant lies or vows deep in our heart. Sometimes our hearts are deceived and we agree for coping strategies or with the symptoms themselves. In the Healing Protocol (click here to learn what a typical Splankna Session looks like), we ask God to reveal the significant vow or lie that the client adopted in conjunction with the identified trauma. We assist the client in repenting of these responses and breaking agreement with them. In this way, every effort is made to resolve the symptom from all angles: Spiritually, Emotionally, Physically!
During a Splankna therapy session, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can identify where a particular emotion is stored in the body from a trauma and is fueling a current symptom, (i.e. anger at my ex-husband is fueling my depression). The mind-body work of Splankna Therapy facilitates the body’s own ability to release that stored emotion on an energetic level, thus removing some of the fuel behind the symptom. There are over a dozen current styles of getting this done in the field of energy psychology. What they all have in common is that they use some form of what we call “Circuitry + Intention.” By “Circuitry” we mean some way to physically access and alter the body’s emotional energy storage system (Meridian System of Energy). By “Intention” we mean having the client remember and think about the emotion, trauma or symptom. When you put circuitry and client intention together, the body is facilitated to resolve/release the overpowering stored emotion and recalibrate it to a more appropriate level. The following are brief descriptions of our three styles of “Circuitry” used in the Splankna Protocol.
Direct Access: (adapted from Neuro-Emotional Technique) The main style of circuitry used by the Splankna Protocol is what we call “direct access.” This simply means that the practitioner has the client touch the point on their body where a trauma emotion is thought to be stored. While touching that meridian point, the client focuses on the emotion felt during the traumatic memory. This simple, direct combination of circuitry + intention allows the body to release the energetic charge of the emotion.
Algorithms & Bi-laterals: (adapted from T.F.T. and E.M.D.R.) One of the unique elements of the Splankna Protocol is the elegant combination of algorithm work (Callahan TFT) and bi-lateral eye movements (Francine Shapiro EMDR). The Splankna Practitioner will walk the client through the tapping algorithm, moving quickly from one meridian point to another while the client focuses on the particular trauma or emotional content. Unique to Splankna, at the end of each algorithm, bi-lateral eye movements are inserted. The client continues to tune into the emotional trauma content while following the practitioners fingers in a rapid bi-lateral pattern, assisting the brain in resolving “stuck” trauma processes, often calling up a sub-consciously stored trauma to the conscious mind. It is with thos new conscious awareness that any lies or deceptions can be transformed with God’s truth!
Prayer: Another unique element of the Splankna Therapy Protocol is the dependance on prayer. Splankna’s assumption is that if we invite the Spirit of God to do whatever healing he’d like to do in our hearts…He will.
Every session begins with a prayer of submission to God’s will. Practitioner and client both submit spirit, soul and body to God’s Spirit and ask him to melt down our stubborn will wherever it is set against His. The practitioner then asks God to handle any and all warfare that relates to them and lock it under Jesus’ feet. They ask God’s Spirit to provide the resources they need in order to partner with Him and grant any specific blessing or anointing necessary for the healing work.
Depending on the client’s presenting problem and on the practitioner’s guidance via the leading of the Holy Spirit, there may be several other elements to this prayer, but it always ends with inviting the Spirit of God to search through all the “hidden places” in the client’s being/splankna (in the heart posture of Proverbs 18 & 20). They invite God to choose the place in the client’s timeline where he would like to work. The Holy Spirit marks out that place where he wants to work and the Practitioner and client follow that lead via the protocol.
